Research Professor of Markets, Public Policy & Law Alan Cohen was recently featured in Forbes. Alan provided insights on the results of a national survey from Rave Mobile Safety and Researchscape which found that only 13% of respondents are confident in their states to successfully distribute the COVID-19 vaccine and only 22% of respondents said they completely trusted the information received from them.
Alan provided context on these numbers and strategies governments can use to repair trust in public health.
“Honesty regarding impediments and delays in distribution as well as new developments in the nature of the pandemic (e.g., the rise of Covid variants) must be communicated effectively, with messaging crafted to reach all members of the public, including those who may not be proficient in English. It will take great effort to regain the public’s trust in government, but vaccine distribution represents a critical public need and is a good place to start.”
