CBS News Boston recently published a news clip featuring insight from Jay Zagorsky, Clinical Associate Professor of Markets, Public Policy, and Law, discussing the growing income gap in Massachusetts.

According to new U.S. Census data, 27% of households earn less than $50,000 annually. In Massachusetts, one of the states with the largest income gaps, many families are being priced out of the middle class due to rising living costs.

“There are clearly people in Massachusetts who are struggling, who are not earning very large figures, but there are a number of people who are doing quite well,” Zagorsky adds.

Rent control and new affordable housing projects as steps to help close this gap.
