Boston Business Journal recently recorded a podcast featuring David Epstein, Executive Director of the Susilo Institute for Ethics in a Global Economy and Professor of the Practice, Information systems, on the future of artificial intelligence.

There has been tremendous growth in the field of AI, including the addition of generative AI and ChatGPT in recent years, and even more is on the horizon for educators and businesses in the near future. Despite the downsides to AI in the workplace, such as job replacement and bad actors, this technology is here to stay.

Epstein emphasizes this by stating that, “We have to embrace it. It’s here, it’s going to be used. It’s enticing, besides being useful.”

Though the future of AI is hopeful for higher education purposes, administrators, educators, and students must be cautious navigating these tools in the years ahead.
