Illinois may be up to bat next to build first Great Lakes wind farm after Cleveland drops project

December 29, 2023

The Chicago Tribune recently published an article featuring Richard Stuebi, Lecturer of Strategy and Innovation discussing the obstacles that accompany building the first Great Lakes wind farm.

Icebreaker Wind has strived to supply electricity to millions of homes through clean energy flow but was recently suspended due to its relatively small size, as well as lack of funding and Ohio support. Chicago has the potential to avoid these obstacles and lead the way for infrastructure to power the world.

“It’s the stuff that the industrial Midwest has historically done,” Stuebi adds, addressing the process of building wind turbines.

Despite the challenges in creating wind power on the Great Lakes, proper support and funding can aid the process.
