Harvard Business Review recently published an article co-authored by Constance Noonan Hadley, Lecturer of Management and Organizations, discussing measures organizations can take to support employees with bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder affects over 40 million adults globally, including 3% of U.S. adults, often hindering their full work potential due to suboptimal job design, managerial practices, and organizational culture.
Hadley and her co-authors provide three recommendations for organizations: modifying job features, training managers on mental health, and promoting a culture of performance and compassion to assist their employees.
These recommendations will aid not only those struggling with bipolar disorder, but the entire workforce.
