CBS News recently published an article featuring Greg Stoller, Master Lecturer of Strategy and Innovation, discussing how Josh D’Amaro has been named the next CEO of The Walt Disney Company, succeeding Bob Iger in March 2026.
A Massachusetts native and current leader of Disney’s parks, resorts, and cruise divisions, D’Amaro is set to take the helm of a global enterprise generating $36 billion in annual revenue and employing approximately 185,000 people.
Having spent nearly three decades with the company since joining in 1998, he brings deep experience across finance, strategy, marketing, and operations. Still, analysts note he assumes the role at a complex moment for the industry, facing challenges ranging from shifting tourism trends and streaming pressures to emerging technologies and potential labor disputes.
“There are a number of other headwinds that he’s going to be facing, whether it be what to do with AI, whether it be softer tourism to the United States, media and streaming concerns, and of course, upcoming labor negotiations with the screenwriters in the Actors Guild about how AI might be taking away their intellectual property or profitability,” Stoller adds.
As Disney enters its next phase of leadership, D’Amaro’s ability to navigate these pressures while preserving the company’s brand strength and audience connection will be critical to its continued success.
