The Hill recently published an article featuring Mark Williams, Master Lecturer of Finance, arguing that Donald Trump, long a critic of socialism is now advancing it through his economic policies.
After years of Republicans branding Democrats as “socialists,” Trump’s administration has claimed a “golden share” in Nippon Steel’s U.S. Steel purchase, taken nearly a 10 percent stake in Intel, and required Nvidia and AMD to share China revenues. Critics warn these moves politicize corporate decisions and push the U.S. toward government-managed capitalism.
As Williams cautioned, “If such White House policies expand past AI chips and steel and into other strategic industries, it would move the U.S. toward a brand of government-managed capitalism like Russia and China.”
Free markets and limited government are at risk – and corporate America should pay attention.
