GoBankingRates recently published an article featuring Greg Stoller, Master Lecturer of Strategy and Innovation, discussing the influence of the ‘underconsumption core” trend on Gen Z.
The TikTok-driven trend of mindful consumption is reshaping consumer behavior, with experts suggesting it reflects a lasting shift in attitudes rather than a fleeting fad. This change can benefit Gen Z by enhancing budget flexibility, increasing savings and investment potential, and fostering a lifestyle of minimalism.
“That assuages my concerns that this is another flavor-of-the-month promotion designed to get press or generate website clicks, or make for the newest TikTok content. Obviously, all of these so-called ‘trends’ are not, and will not, be created equally. However, I really do believe that this one is here to stay for at least the rest of the calendar year and hopefully longer,” Stoller adds.
Embracing this trend could help young consumers improve their financial health and achieve their long-term goals.
