Boston Business Journal recently published an article featuring Susan Jung Grant, Clinical Associate Professor of Marketing, discussing Sprouts Farmers Market’s planned expansion into New England.
The grocery chain plans to open its first Massachusetts location in Weymouth in 2028, with ambitions to establish 30 to 40 stores across southern New England.
Jung Grant, who recently worked with students on a retail expansion competition that included Sprouts, highlighted customer service, the company’s Forager Finds program and bulk offerings as potential differentiators in the competitive New England grocery market.
She also noted the challenges Sprouts will face competing with established regional grocers. “Retail is so competitive,” Jung Grant said. “It’s not necessarily a slam dunk.”
The story highlights both the opportunities and challenges Sprouts will face as it enters the highly competitive New England grocery market.
