Boston Herald recently published an article featuring Greg Stoller, Master Lecturer of Strategy and Innovation, discussing the impact the Celtic’s win had on small businesses and the local economy.
Despite inconsistencies in patronage due to post-pandemic remote work, the playoffs brought in a surge of customers during game days and events for small businesses, restaurants, hotels, and more.
“As long as one of these teams – the Bruins or the Celtics – makes the playoffs, you’re not going to get a 20% impact in one day, but you’re going to get a continued economic boon because more and more people are not only going to go the game but they’re also going to stay afterward,” Stoller adds.
The Celtics’ championship victory energized Boston’s sports scene and provided a vital economic boost to local businesses, highlighting the enduring impact of sports success on the city’s economy.
