CBS News Boston recently published an article featuring Jay Zagorsky, Clinical Associate Professor of Markets, Public Policy, and Law discussing the increase in coffee prices at Cumberland Farms.
At Cumberland Farms, customers are shocked to see their previously .99-cent coffee switching to a tiered pricing scale. Although coffee prices are up over 6% this year, Cumberland Farms keeps their coffee prices low intentionally.
Zagorsky adds, “Coffee is a loss leader. You go to Cumberland Farms, and you pick up snacks, you pick up gasoline, you might pick up drinks, and ‘Oh yeah! I came here for coffee.'”
Even with inflation affecting these prices, Cumberland Farms still has some of the cheapest coffee around.
