Knowledge at Wharton recently recorded a podcast featuring Kathy Kram, Professor Emeritus, Management and Organizations, where she shared insights from her co-authored book, Retiring: Creating a Life That Works for You.
The conversation highlighted the need to recognize retirement as a crucial life stage, urging individuals and organizations to reflect more deeply on its implications. Kram emphasized that her research was a collaborative effort among a team of five scholars with varied backgrounds.
“What we did come up with instead is the idea that a person needs to examine his or her own values and priorities and needs, which tend to shift over the life course. And to do that, and really ask, is the life structure I’m in right now aligned with what I want and need in my life,” Kram adds.
The conversation reflects on the need for a thoughtful approach to retirement, integrating personal experiences with academic insights.
