Daily Signal recently published an article featuring research conducted by Andrew King, Allen and Kelli Professor in Strategy and Innovation, challenging a landmark ESG investing study that helped shape corporate sustainability strategies and investment decisions.
After attempting to replicate the study’s findings, King concluded that its methodology could not support its central claims. As King wrote, “The article helped ignite the ESG boom.… But when I replicated the study, I discovered their method did not, and could not, deliver a sufficient number of closely matched firms.”
The debate has fueled broader discussions about research reproducibility and the importance of rigorous evidence in shaping corporate, investment, and public policy decisions.
