Wall Street Journal recently published an article quoting Mark Williams, Master Lecturer of Finance, discussing the political tensions between China and the U.S., forcing bank executives to precede cautiously.
When Wall Street’s most powerful executives assembled in Hong Kong this week, one topic was absence: China.
Discussion items included financial stability, interest rates, and capital market risks, with little mention of the worsened tensions between the U.S. and China’s relationships.
Williams adds, “The big discussion—I think maybe not officially, but obviously in private discussions—is going to be the Chinese-U.S. freeze and what does that really mean for growth prospects and general opportunities for these banks.”
