The Daily Hampshire Gazette recently published an article featuring Keith Munsell, Master Lecturer of Strategy and Innovation, and Constance Hadley, Associate Professor of Management and Organizations discussing the role of coworking spaces in the workplace.
Industrious, a coworking space located in Boston, partners with landlords to create and run workspaces for freelance and independent workers while WeWork signs fixed lease agreements with landlords, leading to liabilities using up a large portion of their revenue. With the workplace landscape changing, coworking spaces can offer financial benefits to companies even with the growing norm of working from home.
Munsell says that the surplus of office space is credited to the “demise of WeWork, the pandemic and the partial back to work culture.”
According to Hadley, coworking spaces that have a local feel will attract more workers and revitalize cities and towns.
