Bloomberg recently published an article referencing research conducted by Connie Hadley, Research Associate Professor in Management and Organizations on best practices for navigating bipolar disorder in the workplace.
With nearly 3% of adults diagnosed with bipolar disorder, it is crucial for organizations to be well-equipped to support individuals with this condition. Hadley’s research, featured in Harvard Business Review, underscores that companies can enhance support for bipolar employees by offering greater flexibility, providing comprehensive manager training, and fostering a more inclusive and compassionate company culture.
“A culture that values both performance and compassion is critical,” Hadley adds.
Although the workplace poses significant challenges for individuals with bipolar disorder due to ongoing stigma and inadequate support, there are effective strategies to better assist these employees.
