Fortune’s CFO Daily recently published a news article where Mark Williams, Master Lecturer of Finance, discussed key strategies to become a chief financial officer as trends and abilities continue to evolve.
Williams names being tech-savvy, a strong leader, and an efficient communicator as some of the most important qualifications for a future CFO. Aspiring CFO graduates should learn from their senior management and network to gain more knowledge in the field to understand different perspectives before expecting a promotion. Williams emphasized that an ideal CFO candidate is “someone who’s strong in strategy, risk management, technology, and strong in the numbers.”
Becoming a CFO requires knowledge beyond obtaining an MBA, including communication skills that reach out to a variety of people.
