The Wall Street Journal recently published an article featuring Mohammad Soltanieh-ha, Clinical Assistant Professor of Information Systems, discussing job market challenges the class of 2024 is facing.
As employers become more selective and demand more experience for entry-level positions, graduates struggle to find employment. AI proficiency has become more important in the job market than traditional experience, adding a new level of complexity.
“It’s not that the AI is taking their jobs. It’s somebody that knows how AI is working—that’s who is going to take their job,” Soltanieh-ha adds.
Graduating students are advised to adapt to these challenges by seeking opportunities outside their field and making meaningful connections.
