CBS News recently recorded a segment interviewing Jay Zagorsky, Clinical Associate Professor of Markets, Public Policy, and Law, discussing how home heating bills in New England could remain stable or even lower than last year, thanks to a combination of factors.
Natural gas prices are expected to remain steady, while heating oil prices have dropped for two consecutive years. For those using oil, this could mean significant savings. However, electricity and propane costs may see slight increases.
“If you happen to be one of those one in five families that happen to heat your home with home heating oil, you’re going to have a wonderful winter holiday. Why? Because home heating oil prices have dropped for the last two years in a row,” Zagorsky adds.
While heating expenses won’t be dramatically lower, they also won’t rise significantly, offering some relief to homeowners.
