Moshe Cohen, Senior Lecturer in Management & Organizations, sits down with Insights Contributors Steve Sisto and Shannon Light to discuss his new book, “The Optimistic Pessimist.”
Moshe Cohen is the author of Collywobbles, How to Negotiate When Negotiating Makes You Nervous. He has been teaching negotiation, leadership, conflict resolution and organizational behavior as founder of The Negotiating Table since 1995 and as a senior lecturer at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, where he has taught since 2000. He has worked with thousands of students as well as companies and organizations all over the world. Moshe is a mediator who has worked to resolve hundreds of matters, and also coaches executives, managers, and individuals on negotiating more effectively. He has written numerous articles and cases, and has appeared in podcasts, videos, and interviews. Moshe studied Physics at Cornell University and has a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, specializing in robotics. After working in robotics for over a dozen years, he completed his MBA from Boston University and fell in love with negotiation and mediation.
J.P. Matychak is Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives & Chief of Staff at BU Questrom School of Business. He also serves as the managing editor for Insights@Questrom and host of the Insights@Questrom Podcast. J.P. holds a BS in Business and Economics from Lehigh University, an MEd in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh, and an EdD in Administrative and Policy Studies in Higher Education from the University of Pittsburgh. J.P.’s research focuses on traditional strategic planning, new methods for strategic planning that infuse agile and design thinking methods, and leadership in higher education.
Shannon Light is an Insights@Questrom contributor and Account Manager for the Belfort Group, a fully integrated Digital Marketing, PR, and Creative agency. In collaboration with Questrom School of Business, Shannon and the Belfort Group team help manage Insights@Questrom and continue to assist with thought leadership opportunities for Questrom faculty, students, and alumni.
